The last week

I have wanted to go back to school for a long time. About a year ago I found that I could take classes online. Ten weeks per class seemed like a long time. I have found that the last week gets here too soon sometimes. I am in the last week of English Comp now and am still working on my final paper. I hope to finish it and turn it in sometime this weekend. I have learned a lot from this class and have enjoyed it as much as I have the rest of my classes. I have to say, though, it will be a relief to finish this paper. I can't wait to start my next classes.

When you have a child you love that child with every ounce of your being. You don't feel as if you could love any more than you love them. When they have a child, your grandchild, you realize there is even more love in you. The grandchild seems to be even more precious than yours was. This could be because 20 years or more have gone by and you don't remember the feeling from the day your child was born. There could be many reasons for this. I think it is because they are your child s child. Just because your child is so special to you, their child is that much more special. I know my grandchildren mean the world to me. My 5 year old grandson just went through a spinal tap because he was complaining of headaches and vomiting. He was being checked for meningitis. He didn't have it but has gone through a lot of pain because of the test. My youngest granddaughter was given one at only 3 weeks old. She didn't need it either. I think the hospital here gives this test too readily. Both of my grandchildren went through too much and were found to be fine.

Moving is one thing I never have to do again. I am just too old for it. Trying to set up a new home, keep up with laundry, school, feeding the family, bathing children, cleaning the house and keeping prior appointments is just too much. I am keeping up most all of this but, I forgot my blog last week. There are only two weeks left in this class. From now on school will have to find a higher spot on my list of priorities.

I can't believe I let last week fly by without doing my blog. I bought a trailer and moved it next to my parents house. I have been moving and trying to set up my new home. I started from scratch. When I looked at the trailer it seemed fine. After I got it moved I found out there are a LOT of things wrong. I have had to replace a breaker, buy a new refrigerator, fix broken pipes, and have a back door put in. It is definitely a work in progress. It will be worth it in the end. I will have a home that is "me".  This has been a very hectic week. I hope I never have to move again.

School in itself is not as big a challenge for me as is the time I need for it. There aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I have to do. School is one of my top priorities. I make time for school. I will let most anything else go in order to study. I sometimes have to give up sleep to study and understand some of my classes. I have a full time job, elderly parents, and I try to get to the gym as much as possible. I know I have to take care of myself to be able to take care of everything else. I work and study hard and it shows. I get compliments on my work and my grades are very good. My dad, who is 78, has alzheimers disease. My mom, who is 70, can barely walk, still works part time, takes care of my dad when she is home, and worries about everything. I worry about them and check on them everyday. I just hope I can hold on until I get my degree.

Seems like I am drawing a blank on everything today. I know me, and I know I have an opinion on just about everything. You know what they say about The only thing I can think of now though is that I can't think of anything.
I had an experience this morning that was very upsetting. I live with an 85 yr old lady with Alzhiemers disease and her skin is very dry. She itches all the time. We have some medicine we put on it that helps for a while. This morning was the worst I have seen. When I would try to put the medicine on her she fought me. I think she thought I was making her itch. It took about 45 minutes to get the medicine all over her and finally stopped the itch. If anyone reading this has a way to stop itching I would love to hear your opinion.

Drama, Drama, Drama

Drama! It seems to follow me where ever I go. It's like Murphey's  law, If something can go wrong it will. I say, "If drama can happen it will." I grin and bare it, try to defuse it, and walk away. Drama seems to slap the grin off my face, burn faster and follow me. At work there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians. At home everyone has a problem that they seem to think I can fix. I am taking two classes and one of them is very hard. Anatomy and Physiology is much harder than I thought it would be. I feel like I am reading a foreign language. Thank God for my comp class. It is the one thing that is going right, even if we don't have a book. One thing is for sure, today is a new day and it has to be better than yesterday.

first blog

This is my first blog. I hope I can make this interesting for anyone who reads it. I plan to write all my blogs about my experiences in online college.

I would like to start by telling you a little about myself. I am 49 years young and have 3 grown children. They are all men age 24, 26, and 30. I have 8 beautiful grandchildren who are the light of my life. They range in age from 2 to 14.

My husband passed away in 1999 and my life was shattered. I had no idea what to do or how to deal with being alone after 16 years of being a wife and mother. In the next few years my children grew up and started having children of their own. I have since started school and am happier than I thought possible. I am still single and live with an 85 year old woman with Alzheimer's disease.  I am currently a Medical Assistant student and plan to go on to become a registered nurse.

I really enjoy being in school again and learning new things. I thought nursing would be hard but have found it comes quit natural.  It has been a dream of mine to return to school for some time. It feels good and I am doing well.
